Outperforming brands like Toyota, Honda, Ford and Chevy, Nissan sold 75,484 vehicles in October, which was both a new record for the month and an increase of more than 22 percent compared to October 2010. And notably, Nissan's success was particularly well balanced, with the brand's car deliveries improving by 22.4 percent and its truck/crossover/minivan sales rising by 21.5 percent.
Highlights included a record-setting month for the Nissan Altima, as the popular midsize sedan sold 21,338 units in October, representing a 15.1 percent jump. The Altima was one of just three cars in the entire industry to crest the 20,000-sales mark last month and trailed the leader by just 751 sales.
The Nissan Rogue, too, reached record sales heights for October, as the stylish and sophisticated crossover was good for 10,034 purchases and a 13.2 percent gain over its sales from October 2010. The Rogue made further news as well, introducing Nissan's innovative Around View Monitor to the automaker's lineup. Designed to make parking easier than ever, the system leverages four separate cameras to create a 360-degree image of the vehicle as pictured from above, showing drivers parking-space lines and potential parking hazards relative to the Rogue's position.
And significantly, the all-electric Nissan LEAF pitched in with a further 849 sales in October.
All of which drove Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager of the Nissan Division, to report that: "With a winning lineup of cars, trucks and crossovers, Nissan is ready for a strong finish to 2011."
