2012 Nissan Rogue To Offer Innovative ‘Around View’ Monitor

With sales up almost 26 percent so far in 2011, the Nissan Rogue already has cracked the 100,000-sales mark for the year and has cemented its place as a top choice in the highly competitive entry-crossover segment. Customers can expect to see that kind of momentum continue with the new model year, too, thanks to the addition of Nissan's innovative Around View Monitor to the 2012 Rogue's long list of available content.

The system makes parallel parking a snap, thanks to four tiny cameras, unobtrusively mounted at four points around the Rogue: At the front, on both of the side mirrors, and at the rear of the vehicle. The Around View technology uses the data gathered from those cameras to create a full 360-degree bird's-eye view of the areas immediately surrounding the Rogue, helping the driver guide the vehicle into even the most challenging parking spots. Drivers also can fine-tune the system's display to show split-screen views of the areas of most concern.

The Around View Monitor is part of the Nissan Rogue's SL Package, which also includes such upgrades as 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, high-intensity discharge headlamps, a Nissan navigation system with XM NavTraffic, and a premium Bose digital sound system.

"Unlike complex systems that take complete control of the parking function, Rogue's Around View Monitor allows the driver to remain in charge—with a heightened view of the vehicle's surroundings," said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. "It's amazing technology, an amazing innovation, and we're proud that Rogue is the first vehicle in its segment to offer it."

The 2012 Nissan Rogue—with available Around View Monitor—is on sale now.
