Boasting impressive levels of power and interior room in its segment, the 2012 Nissan Versa Hatchback has become a stronger choice than ever for the new model year, adding new content and new packaging while retaining the same MSRP as the 2011 model.

The 2012 Versa Hatchback 1.8 S with its thrifty six-speed manual transmission still starts at ,380, but now it has added Nissan's advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control system as a key entry on its list of standard features. In addition, the automaker has developed a number of fresh content packages for the Versa Hatchback, offering some of the car's most popular options at savings of up to 0 as compared to ordering the additional equipment separately.

Filling out the Versa Hatchback family are the 1.8 S model with a four-speed automatic (MSRP: ,380) and an uplevel 1.8 SL configuration with a fuel-efficient continuously variable transmission (CVT) that delivers EPA ratings of up to 28 mpg city/34 mpg highway/29 mpg combined (MSRP: ,390). And Nissan also will be rolling out the completely redesigned 2012 Nissan Versa Sedan in August as well. The second-generation Versa Sedan sits on an all-new platform, with an all-new engine and all-new levels of fuel efficiency—Nissan expects it to deliver EPA ratings of 30 mpg city/38 mpg highway/33 mpg combined. But the Sedan, too, maintains its focus on affordability.

The 2012 Versa Sedan 1.6 S with a five-speed manual transmission will showcase a starting price of just ,990, allowing it to keep its title as the car with the lowest MSRP in America. And remember, it also includes air conditioning as standard equipment. The rest of the Versa Sedan roster includes the Sedan 1.6 S with CVT and an MSRP of ,760; the 1.6 SV with CVT, with an MSRP of ,560; and the range-topping 1.6 SL with CVT, priced at ,560.
