Nissan Commits Itself To Child Safety

Nissan announced that it will participate in the NHTSA's proposed Vehicle-CRS Fit Program. The program is specially designed to assist consumers in choosing the right child restraint systems for their vehicles.

Child safety has become a priority at Nissan, and the automaker has already participated in similar programs aimed at improving child safety. This includes Nissan's Snug Kids, an industry-first program established in 2002 which publishes child restraint information on the Nissan and Infiniti websites.

"Nissan is committed to passenger safety – including the safety of children, our most precious cargo," said Bob Yakushi, director of product safety, Nissan North America. "We began Snug Kids™ to aid caretakers in the purchase and installation of child restraint systems, and fully support NHTSA's direction."

Consumers have long experienced difficulty when choosing a child safety seat that fits properly in their vehicles. Nissan's own Snug Kids was devised to address that problem. The program led to the creation of the Snug Kids Child Safety Seat Fit Guide, which helps parents confidently select a child restraint that fits their vehicle while also providing valuable tips on the proper fit of a child restraint.
