The Tokyo Auto Salon is the Japanese equivalent of the SEMA show in the U.S. It's also where automakers show off their latest and greatest aftermarket parts and accessories.
At the 2011 Tokyo Auto Salon, Nissan had several customized vehicles on display, but one in particular that stood out was a new GT-R model called the GT-R RC (Racing Competition). This vehicle was customized by Nissan's in-house tuner arm, Nismo, and was designed specifically for use on the track.
The GT-R RC has been outfitted with slick tire-compatible suspension, lightweight components, and special safety equipment and devices. It also includes a welded roll-cage inside. Nissan didn't boost the power of this beast, since there really was no reason to. The GT-R is powered by a twin-turbo V6 that delivers nearly 500 horsepower.
The GT-R RC will be able to compete in various production races held around. This model will go on sale in Japan in the next few months.
